Livestream Video: Belgian Wines and Barbecue

On Sunday I hosted my very first Facebook livestream panel in one of our local wine community groups, called ‘Wijn Wijn Wijn’ – a name which doesn’t require translation, I’m sure.

For this session, we chose the theme ‘pairing Belgian Wines with barbecues’. Because, well, we do love a good grill-up over here – at least when the weather permits.

My guests were maître-sommelier, author and wine educator Gido Van Imschoot; Peter Doomen, national wine master of the Flemish Wine Guild and author of the most comprehensive book on Belgian wineries ‘Wijn van Eigen Bodem’; and last but not least Sanne Dirx, the first woman to acquire the title of ‘Sommelier of the Year’ in Belgium and who was until recently the sommelier at restaurant Cuchara in Lommel, Limburg. She is now moving on to new adventures, and will be opening her very own ‘culture and wine bar’ in the coming months.

You can find the video of our talk below. It’s in Dutch (actually in 4 different regional versions of Flemish, as 4 provinces were represented 😉) but if there’s enough interest, I’m happy to look into adding English subtitles.
