In the face of all the atrocities and misery in the world, devoting an important part of your life to a luxury product like wine can feel a bit shallow.

Yet at the same time, wine (and enjoying good food with it) is a way to not only mark the grand occasions in life, but also to celebrate the little things – the ones we take for granted until we realise they were the big things all along.

It is often in those moments of warmth, laughter and uninhibited interaction that our best ideas bubble up to the surface: the sparks of light and pinpricks of hope, which end up shaping our lives and those of the people around us.

So, with the shortest night behind us and the daylight gathering strength: let us celebrate in love, in hope, in giggles, chortles and howls, yet in full recognition of how fortunate we are. Because at that point where we are both happy and aware, compassion and purpose can take root.

Happy holidays!
